Owned and run by Stella Viola di Campalto, of Roman & Piedmontese origin, located close to the south-eastern village of Castelnuovo dell’Abate. Stella created San Giuseppe on her own in 1992. The unfertilised, unaided but carefully tended vines thrive on a rich diversity of soils: mostly rocky, quartz, alberese, volcanic, iron, alluvial, and limoso (silt). Today Stella di Campalto is one of Brunello di Montalcino’s most sought-after producers, and certainly one of its most respected artisans. She has achieved this through her natural, and non-interventionist approach. The parcels of vines are harvested separately in order to capture the maximum fruit quality and soil expression, handled by gravity and vinified in 100% oak, in large wooden troncoconici/vats.

Tasting Notes

A smooth red wine with an impressive bouquet of sweet flowers, fresh strawberries and hints of spice. On the palate it is smooth, fruity and energetic. A wine with a delicate texture that is balanced by a core of vibrant acidity that also adds sweetness. The finish is long, very feminine and mineral.

Food Pairing

Goes well with roasted red meats, game, dishes accompanied by mushrooms or truffles.
