Alvaro Palacios is a wine producer most famous for its Garnacha-based wines from Priorat. Established in 1990 by Alvaro Palacios himself, the winery has been forefront of Priorat's rise to fame as one of Spain's most prestigious wine regions.

After spending time working at Petrus in Pomerol, he bought his own vineyard in the then obscure region of Priorat, where the steep, slate-based hillsides covered in gnarled bush vines had been forgotten about in the second half of the 20th Century. Palacios soon grew his estate and now owns several vineyards in the area, often considered in the same league as Dominio de Pingus or Vega Sicilia. The single-vineyard Finca Dofi comes from vines in Priorat planted on steep slopes two decades ago. It is complex and vibrant like the landscape. A sensual and fleshy wine like the area’s slate, rich in clay and iron.

It's classy, elegant and fresh with very clean aromas and flavors, not lacking concentration or power. There is superb definition and purity here; it has to be the finest and most elegant Dofí to date.

Tasting Notes

Cracked cloves and white pepper with dark fruit and iron. Perfumed and subtle. It’s full-bodied with a vertical layer of very fine tannins that give a creamy and round texture that turns almost powdery. Flavorful finish, yet refined. Give this time to open.

Food Pairing

The wine’s velvety texture and fine-grained tannins make it a very gastronomical red, to be paired with fine dining and special occasions. A collectible wine for the finest cellar.

Grape Variety: Grenache, Carignan
