Nikka Whisky was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, widely regarded as the father of Japanese whisky. After studying whisky production in Scotland, Taketsuru brought traditional Scottish techniques to Japan and established Nikka. The Taketsuru range is named in his honor and reflects his vision of producing elegant, well-balanced whiskies through the art of blending.

Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt is a blended malt Japanese whisky made exclusively from malt whiskies sourced from Nikka's Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries. Matured in a variety of cask types, it combines the robust, lightly peated character of Yoichi with the delicate, fruity style of Miyagikyo, resulting in a harmonious and complex whisky.

Tasting Notes

The nose offers aromas of fresh orchard fruit, dried apricot, vanilla, honey, toasted oak, and gentle smoke. The palate is smooth and rounded, revealing flavors of pear, malt, dark chocolate, citrus peel, roasted nuts, and soft spices. The finish is long and elegant with lingering notes of oak, subtle peat smoke, and sweet fruit.
