2015 was one of the best years, especially for Port. The Ports were foot-trodden and created in lagares in Vale de Mendiz with 100% of the stems, 40% from the Pisca vineyard and 60% from other tiny parcels, all over 80 years old. As a result, amazing Ports were produced that had an extraordinary depth, an outstanding structure made of fine and powerful tannins, and incredible concentration that was always accompanied by harmony and balance.
Tasting Notes
The 2015 vintage's superb natural acidity serves to provide an overall balance while the vintage's wonderfully robust tannins and ample concentration disguise the sweetness and alcohol. It is a pleasure to simply smell all the hidden components due to the nose's timid but focused nature, lack of overripe prune-like qualities, and soft and graceful presentation of fruit and complexity. These are bottles to sample in the upcoming years in order to grin at its youth, to drink correctly in 20 years, and to enjoy fully in 40 years. The balance and harmony in the bottle promise a fantastic future.
Food Pairing
A perfect match with beef centered dishes, cheeses like the traditional Portuguese "Queijo da Serra," Stilton and other blue cheeses, or desserts with a sponge cake base.
