In 1970, Enrique Forner founded Marqués de Cáceres, Unión Vitivinícola, S.A., a historic Alliance between a region (Cenicero, La Rioja Alta), an enterprising family, the best vine growers and vineyards in La Rioja, and a Bordeaux concept which revolutionised the production and business model. Enrique had one objective - to obtain the best wines. This obsession continues to be the leitmotiv of Cristina Forner, the third generation of this wine family.

Thought to have originated in North Africa, the Verdejo grape has found a hospitable climate and soil in central Spain. Full-bodied and aromatic, this wine is often compared to Sauvignon Blanc. One of Spain's most popular cultivated white wines, Verdejo should hold a place in any wine enthusiast's collection. The vineyards in Serrada and La Seca are cultivated with care allowing them to reveal the character derived from this superb variety and the virtues of this area within the Rueda D.O.

Tasting Notes

The 2020 Marques de Caceres Verdejo has an elegant, subtle nose, unveiling the fragrance of white fruits with fine citrus notes. An outburst on the palate, lavish and intense. Crisp and tasty fruit unveil balance, freshness and a fine touch of grapefruit that that lingers on the mouth. It clearly represents the elegance and complexity we are looking for.

Food Pairing

This is a versatile wine that can be paired with shellfish, vegetarian dishes and yet it works beautifully with Spanish cured meats.
