Le Petit Baal Bekaa Valley 2019

About the producer:
Domaine de Baal is an organic, low-intervention estate founded in 2006 by Sébastien Khoury. Located on the slopes of Mount Lebanon at around 1,200 m above sea level, it combines Mediterranean climate with limestone-clay soils, producing elegant, terroir-driven wines.

About the region:
The Bekaa Valley is Lebanon’s primary wine region, a high plain (about 1,000–1,200 m elevation) between two mountain ranges. Its hot summers, cool nights, and fertile soils create ideal conditions for quality viticulture .

About the grape blend:
Le Petit Baal is a red blend comprised of 80% Syrah and 20% Merlot. Winemaking includes whole‑cluster fermentation with wild yeasts, minimal intervention, and aging in used French oak barrels for 8–10 months.

Style and tasting notes:
This medium-bodied red shows dark, inky color. On the nose, expect red and black fruit—strawberries, blackberries—with hints of earth, spice, mint, and oak. The palate is bold yet smooth and fruity, framed by structured tannins and a hint of dark chocolate or forest floor, finishing long and savory.

Trivia:
Vineyards are farmed organically at high altitude with no fining or filtration.
