Glenfarclas 1979 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

This is a single cask bottling of Glenfarclas single malt Scotch whisky, bottled for the Winter 2015 Release of their Family Cask range. It was distilled in 1979 and matured in a fourth fill hogshead until August 2015, before being bottled with an outturn of 300 bottles.

This nose is an almost perfect mix of ripe fruits (of all kinds), honeys, sugars with spicy, nutty and shy peaty aromas that create a delicious and impressive experience. The palate, is truly multi-layered starting with all these tasty ripe fruits that are contained within a firm and very appropriate wooden structure. The spices kick in to create a delicious fruit salad that later is topped with honey and fine smoked herbs ("peated basil" and more). The finish is long and turns more bitter-spicy.
