"Château Ducru-Beaucaillou Saint-Julien 2018

About the producer:
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a Second Growth estate in the 1855 Classification and one of the most prestigious properties in Saint-Julien. Owned by the Borie family, the château is renowned for producing wines of exceptional precision, elegance, and longevity.

About the region:
Saint-Julien, in the Médoc on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, is celebrated for its gravelly soils and ideal climate. The appellation is known for producing some of the most balanced wines in Bordeaux, combining structure, finesse, and aging potential.

About the grape variety:
A classic Bordeaux blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and small amounts of Petit Verdot. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and depth, while Merlot adds roundness and fruit.

Style and tasting note:
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2018 is powerful yet refined, with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, and graphite, layered with notes of cedar, spice, and subtle oak. The palate is full-bodied and structured, with fine, polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, complex finish.

Trivia:
The name “Beaucaillou” means “beautiful stones,” referring to the large gravel pebbles in the vineyard that help regulate temperature and contribute to the wine’s complexity and elegance."
