The appellation Grand Cru is a strictly defined designation which is protected by law. It specifies special production methods and higher standards. The results are wines of highest quality, reflecting attributes of the Alsacian terroir and the grape variety used. Brand is a granite slope that enjoys a high amount of sunshine due to its orientation. According to legend, it was on this slope where a battle took place between a dragon and the sun.
