The wines from the Azienda Agricola Crissante Alessandria are born in the noble land of Langhe from native grapes. With the passing of the centuries, Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto have found their ideal environment in these harmonious and sunny hills where they can fully develop their enormous quality potential and their wonderful typicalness. The passing of the seasons differs each year, the tranquillity of the underground cellars allows the aromas and flavors to evolve, giving each vintage a unique personality.

With 14.5% abv and bottled in July 2019 this vintage remains a Santa Maria di La Morra blend from vineyards Roggeri (60%), Bettolotti (20%), San Biagio (20%), effectively a clay, sandy clay, sand mix. This vintage is fermented and aged separately, before blending, prior to bottling. 14,000 bottles were produced. Given the quality of the fruit, Alberto felt empowered to extend the pumping over skin contact in 2016.

Tasting Notes

The 2016 vintage is compact and reserved, with great tension. Slightly darker blue in colour than the red 2015, the nose is all about focus, poise, and composure with a weave of Roggeri blue-marne, glacier cherry, but also San Biagio red rose fruit, Bettolotti incense and La Morra spezia. The palate is neat, giving very little away at this stage, but showing huge potential.

Food Pairing

This is a great meditation wine and as such it can be enjoyed alone in large crystal goblets. It goes perfectly with meats, roasts, cheeses and many other dishes. The great chefs of international cuisine know how to interpret, with local ingredients and refined recipes that perfectly accompany this great wine.
