Ooh, Douglas Laing have given their (already very stylish) XOP range a bit of a sprucing, including the addition of glass corks! This edition is a 55 year old North British single grain, distilled in May 1962 and aged in a single refill hogshead until June 2017, when it was bottled with an outturn of just 221 bottles.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Roasted coffee beans, caramelised dates and just a smidgen of spiced rum.
Palate: Mature oak makes itself heard on the palate, with buttered teacake and treacle tart in support.
Finish: Honey and vanilla - both floral and richly sweet.
