Single malt from the Braes of Glenlivet distillery (nowadays known as Braeval), matured in a single refill barrel for 25 years! This one was laid down in December 1994 and left to age until December 2019, when it was bottled by Douglas Laing as part of the Xtra Old Particular range, with an outturn of 188 bottles.
Tasting Notes
The nose opens sweetly and citric, nicely spiced with a barley and bourbon vanilla backdrop. On the palate, the barrel imparts more vanilla pod and mocha amongst the spun candy and molasses. The finish reveals "dark" yet sweet spices, barley sugar and butterscotch.
