Owned and run by Stella Viola di Campalto, of Roman and Piedmontese origin, located close to the south-eastern village of Castelnuovo dell’Abate. Stella created San Giuseppe on her own in 1992. The unfertilised, unaided but carefully tended vines which thrive on a rich diversity of soils: mostly rocky, quartz, alberese, volcanic, iron, alluvial, and limoso (silt). Today Stella di Campalto is one of Brunello di Montalcino’s most sought-after producers, and certainly one of its most respected artisans. She has achieved this through her natural, and non-interventionist approach. The parcels of vines are harvested separately in order to capture the maximum fruit quality and soil expression, handled by gravity and vinified in 100% oak, in large wooden troncoconici/vats.

Tasting Notes

Brilliant deep ruby Red. Its a rich and deep nose, full of ripe dark pulp fruit, such as plum, blueberry and Morello cherry, then enriched with notes of sweet spices and oak. The palate holds excellent structure and balance, present in tannic texture, accompanied by a long finish.

Food Pairing

Red meat, duck, cheese.
