The Chateau du Tertre is a thousand-year-old estate whose vineyard, stretching over 52 hectares, remains unchanged since 1855. During the 19th Century, the Chateau de Tertre wines rose to worldwide fame, especially thanks to the 1855 classification which established the Chateau as a Margaux Grand Cru Classe. The first label of Château du Tertre is known for its silky texture and freshness are combined in this bottle to bring you the elegance expected of a great Margaux wine. The Château Du Tertre 2018 is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 14% Petit Verdot.
Tasting Notes
Deep garnet-purple colored. It opens to notions of baked plums, warm cassis and dried mulberries with hints of tar, chargrill and black pepper. Full-bodied with a firm, chewy frame, it has a good amount of baked berries and herbal flavors with a sage-laced finish. Du Tertre has been using higher proportions of Petit Verdot since 2010, and in a year like 2018, it has really paid off. It tames the rich top notes of the vintage and gives the wine a more supportive tannic structure.
Food Pairing
Red meat, feathered game and hard cheeses.
