Chateau du Tertre Blanc 2016
Suggested Food Pairings:
One of the very few white wines in the Médoc region by Château du Tertre, a Grand Cru Classé of Margaux and a thousand-year-old estate. An exclusive wine, from a 1.45-hectare plot of sands and gravels.
The 2016 Tertre Blanc is an equal blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, Gros Mansang and Sauvignon Blanc, which is an idea that the late Denis Dubourdieu gave to Château du Tertre. It is a small 1.5-hectare holding and of course, due to the grape varieties, it must be labelled as a Vin de France – and it is impossible to get outside of Europe!
Tasting Notes
It has quite an exotic bouquet thanks to the Viognier: peach skin, nectarine and orange blossom. The palate is well balanced with fresh acidity, touches of lemongrass complementing the tropical tones, fresh and lively all the way through to the finish. Just a delicious, quirky white Bordeaux.
Food Pairing
Rich white meats but would also pair beautifully with Asian cuisine.
