Château Chasse-Spleen 2015
Suggested Food Pairings:
Château Chasse-Spleen is a winery in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation of the Bordeaux region of France, just north-west of Margaux. Château Chasse-Spleen was selected as one of six Crus Exceptionnels in the Cru Bourgeois classification of 1932, and through later revisions until the annulment of the classification in 2007. The estate is today widely considered to be of cru classé standard, one of the underrated jewels of Bordeaux. The name means "to chase away the blues" or "dispels melancholy” as it truly does! The vineyard area extends 80 hectares, with the grape varieties of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot.
Tasting Notes
One of Bordeaux’s exceptional vintages, the 2015 is intense in color, ranging from ruby to garnet. It delivers a stylish impression from the get-go with a really nicely focused dark berry nose and hints of fresh pastry. The palate has a smooth array of bright blackberry and plum fruits with smoothly cut tannins that layer up nice and even. After a few years of aging, the tannins melt. Best from 2022.
Food Pairing
Lamb, Game, and strong cheeses.
