Niepoort V V Vinhas Velhas 2017

The grapes for the Quinta do Baixo Vinhas Velhas (Old Vines) are grown on 100-year-old Maria Gomes and Bical grape vines that primarily grow in calcareous soils. The extraordinary lightness and complexity of Bairrada wines are superbly portrayed by the VV.

Light yellow in color with mineral notes, scents of fresh herbs, limes, and white blooms. Despite an outstanding lightness on the palate, it has a full body and a lot of grip. This wine is lifted by its acidity and saline undertones, which give it a distinctive personality that is elegant and fresh. Vinhas Velhas is a straight, angular wine with an intensely mineral finish.

Pair with seafood dishes, roasted fish and cod dishes. It goes very well with dishes inspired by Japanese cuisine, with alkaline and iodised flavors.
