Col d’Orcia Grappa di Brunello di Montalcino
Col d’Orcia means the hill overlooking the Orcia River. The Orcia River marks the South West border of the Brunello di Montalcino territory and the name of the farm is intrinsically linked to the physical location were the vineyards are planted. It is the mission of Col d’Orcia to produce the best possible wines that the exceptional combination of soil and climate of this part of Montalcino can achieve. Since 2010 the whole estate is run following exclusively organic agricultural practices.
Grappa made from grape skins vinified to produce the Brunello di Montalcino “Col D’Orcia” and distilled according to the traditional discontinuous method in steam coppers. This skilled mix exalts fresh aroma and the mellow taste.
Tasting Notes
Brilliant clear, transparent, crystalline. Very fine on the nose, persistent, ample and pure, with wild berry overtones. The palate is dry with a soft, warm, and harmonious tone.
Food Pairing
Usually enjoyed as a digestif by the Italians. Grappa is best enjoyed after a meal accompanied by fresh fruit such as peaches, pears, apples, pineapple, and berries. It also pairs well with dessert.
