Niepoort Poeirinho 2017

Poeirinho pays homage to the renowned Bairrada wines of the past, which were light in color and low in alcohol but gave a fantastic ageing potential. A number of tiny but very old Baga vineyard sites near the Cantanhede region that were recently acquired, motivated by Dirk Niepoort's intense passion for this grape variety and the amazing terroir of the Bairrada region.

The Poeirinho 2017 has a bright red color with purple undertones. Calcareous aromas blend effortlessly with spicy undertones, cherry, woodland fruits, and mint. The accuracy, extraordinary structure, and grip on the palate are impressive. With its intense minerality this wine stands out. Longevity is promised by high acidity and prominent but refined tannins.

Roasted kid goat, sausages, oven-baked cod or vegetarian dishes based on legumes.
