Les Forts de Latour is the second wine from Château Latour, one of Bordeaux's – and the world's – most famous wine producers. It is situated in the southeast corner of Pauillac, in the Médoc region. Rated as a First Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, it has become one of the most sought-after and expensive wine producers on the planet, and produces powerfully structured Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant wines capable of lasting many decades. Les Forts de Latour takes its name from an historic plot in the «Enclos». A reflection of the Grand Vin, not a copy or an impression.

The 2010 Les Forts de Latour is truly a brilliant wine - it rivals the 2009 and 2005. This vintage The blend for Forts de Latour can vary from one year to the next but there is always a higher proportion of Merlot, in 2010 it was a blend of 72.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22.5% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot.

Tasting Notes

2010 was a very dry vintage of exceptional quality, producing incredibly structured and complex wines that are a little formidable when young but should age incredibly. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose of the 2010 Les Forts de Latour is broody with subtle notes of licorice, tar, crushed black berries and plums with hints of spice cake and hoisin. Full-bodied, firm and grainy with an impenetrable core of muscular fruit, it finishes with fantastic persistence. Ready to drink now, but can live for decades.
