Niepoort's first Douro wine, Redoma tinto, was launched in 1991. It is similar to Douro in that it is "extreme, with a harsh character." Redoma is built on old north-facing vineyards from Quinta de Nápoles and the Pinho Valley. Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Franca are the three primary varieties.
Tasting Notes
Herbaceous notes joined by aromas of fresh red fruits and pink peppercorns. The taste is young, light, and sustained by an unique acidity that, along with the freshness supplied by the grape stalks. It culminates in a lengthy, peppery finish with an elegance and linearity that can only come from barrel maturation.
