Echo de Lynch Bages 2015
Suggested Food Pairings:
Château Lynch-Bages is in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux and classified as one of eighteen 5èmes Crus (Fifth Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. The 90 hectares occupy a gravel ridge looking down over the Gironde river are planted predominantly with red wine grape varieties (73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot).
Château Lynch-Bages is primarily known for its eponymous red wine, of which approximately 25,000 cases are made in an average year. The malolactic fermentation takes place mainly in large stainless steel tanks, and the wine then spends about 15 months in oak barrels (of which some 50-60% are new) before bottling. As of 2008, the second label of Lynch-Bages is called, "Echo de Lynch-Bages". A third wine has now been added, called "Pauillac de Lynch-Bages". All of which are quintessential Paulliac!
Tasting Notes
2015 was a tremendous vintage in Bordeaux. This Pauillac is a beautiful representation of that vintage, dense, dark garnet color, drawing on purple in its youth. The bouquet consists of black and red fruits, roasting, licorice and leather. The Pauillacs from 2015 were vigorous and tannic, which have softened with age which allows the tannins to melt and give a nice and round structure.
