It is produced in Arandas, in the Highlands of Jalisco (Los Altos), and owned by Pernod Ricard. The brand was built on a bartender’s view of tequila: authentic, full of character and made to be enjoyed both neat and in cocktails.

Product
Olmeca Altos Añejo is made from 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the red volcanic soils of the Jalisco Highlands. The agave hearts are slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens. Part of the cooked agave is crushed with a tahona stone wheel and the rest with a roller mill. After fermentation and double distillation, the tequila is aged for around 18 months in ex-bourbon American oak barrels. The long aging gives it a deep amber color and a rich, layered character while keeping the sweet Highland agave at its heart. It is best enjoyed neat, on the rocks or in spirit-forward cocktails like an Old Fashioned.

Tasting Notes
The nose is rich and inviting, with cooked agave, vanilla, toffee, dried fruit and toasted oak. The palate is smooth and full-bodied, with flavors of caramel, sweet agave, honey, cinnamon, dark chocolate and a hint of orange peel. The finish is long and warming, with lingering vanilla, oak spice and roasted agave.

Specifications
Country: Mexico
ABV: 38%

Trivia
“Añejo” means “aged” in Spanish. Mexican law requires an añejo to spend at least one year (and less than three years) in oak barrels of no more than 600 liters. That makes it the category for tequila lovers who enjoy the depth usually found in whisky or cognac.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0628/0950/5978/files/olmeca-altos-anejo-tequila-13c-wine-spirits-amman-jordan.jpg?v=1793272164
